Restore and Protect Your Teeth with Tooth-Colored Fillings

Cavities can worsen without prompt treatment. Our dental fillings in Greenacres, FL restore decayed teeth with natural-looking, tooth-colored materials for patients in Greenacres, West Palm Beach, and nearby communities.

What Are Dental Fillings?

Fillings help repair teeth that have cavities, minor damage, or worn areas. The damaged portion of the tooth is gently removed, then the area is cleaned and repaired with a strong, durable filling. Treating cavities early helps stop decay from spreading and reduces the likelihood of needing more extensive procedures in the future.

According to the American Dental Association (ADA), treating cavities early helps preserve natural tooth structure and reduces the need for more extensive restorative treatment.

Benefits of Tooth-Colored Fillings

Modern composite fillings are designed to restore both the appearance and function of your teeth. Composite fillings are shade-matched to your natural teeth, creating a smooth, natural-looking restoration without the appearance of metal.

Benefits may include:

  • Natural-looking results.
  • Preserves healthy tooth structure.
  • Mercury-free material.
  • Strong, durable restoration.
  • Comfortable chewing and biting.
  • Less noticeable than metal fillings.

If a cavity has caused more extensive damage, your dentist may recommend a dental crown or root canal therapy to help restore the tooth.

Our Dental Filling Process

Every treatment begins with a thorough examination to evaluate the extent of the decay.

Examination and Diagnosis

Your dentist will examine the affected tooth and may recommend comprehensive dental exams or digital X-rays to determine the most appropriate treatment.

Filling Placement

After comfortably numbing the area, the damaged portion of the tooth is removed and cleaned. A tooth-colored composite filling is then placed in layers, hardened with a special curing light, and shaped to restore the tooth's natural appearance and function.

Final Evaluation

Once the filling is complete, your dentist will check your bite, make any necessary adjustments, and polish the restoration to ensure a comfortable fit.

FAQs

How do I know if I have a cavity?

Some cavities cause tooth sensitivity, pain when chewing, or visible discoloration, while others have no symptoms. Routine dental exams help detect cavities early before they become more serious.

Can old metal fillings be replaced?

Yes. Many patients choose to replace worn or damaged metal fillings with tooth-colored composite fillings for improved appearance and function.

What is the typical lifespan of a tooth-colored filling?

Composite fillings can remain in good condition for many years when supported by consistent brushing, flossing, and routine dental checkups.

When can I eat after receiving a dental filling?

You can typically resume eating after the anesthesia has completely worn off. For the first day, it's best to avoid very hard or chewy foods to help protect the new filling.

How can I help prevent future cavities?

Brushing twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, flossing every day, limiting sugary foods and drinks, and scheduling routine dental checkups can help reduce your risk of developing cavities.

Best experience i’ve ever had with a dentist office! Went in with horrible pain from an infection with my wisdom tooth. Had an exam, and the dentist made an exception and did my procedure the same day. Dr.Senft was so knowledgeable and talked me through the entire process and procedure. I loved all of the office staff from the ladies at the reception desk to the dental assistants who made me feel comfortable and held my hand during my procedure. Pricing was up front and affordable. They made everything so easy to understand. Also I loved the staff’s sense of humor, it made my visit better!
